That trio, along with Flip, played at The Beowulf after we, The Trilogy, left the club. Peter went under the name of "Peter The Drum Beater". However, his real name was Peter Hellmintoller. I was the person that started Bob Schultz on my bass in high school as then, I also played bass. Oh, I'm having dinner next week with Bob Schultz. It was a tight group of very talented young musicians in this area at that time and we all try to stay in touch. Bob went into real estate after his music career and you can catch up with him here.

Casey's was a local late night gathering place. It was frequently visited by celebrities. I remember seeing Johnny Carson and Ed McMahon several times in the club. Johnny would occasionally sit-in on Peter's drums. They hung out down here as Ed lived about a mile from Lori and me in Lighthouse Point.

I also just saw Benny about two weeks ago as he was in town performing with his trio, the Jazzberry Patch. He's still sounding great. His brother, Ron Champion, played trumpet with the Sammy Spear orchestra when the Gleason show was broadcast from Miami Beach. He also played with me at my last steady gig (for 11 years) at the Lighthouse Point Yacht Club. My drummer at the L.P.Y.C. was Peter... he played for years with his own trio and later with Flip Phillips, a tenor saxophonist who was one of the anchors of the Woody Herman band.
