Store display used to promote The Two Sides Of Leonard Nimoy.

This display is possibly one of the rarest collectable Nimoy music items around. When we were gathering artifacts for this site, we joked that it would be great to find some store displays, never dreaming that there were ever any produced. And then, a few months later....there it was!

From top to bottom the display measures 32 inches and the main round section measures 18 inches across. It's a beautiful piece of ephemera that was lucky to have survived all these years in such good condition.

Sheet Music

Three sets of sheet music from 1979 with lrics and intrumental scores of two songs from the LP Leonard Nimoy Presents Mr. Spock's Music From Outerspace (A Visit To A Sad Planet, You Are Not Alone) and one song from The Two Sides Of Leonard Nimoy (Follow Your Star). These publications were officially licensed and coincided with the theatrical release of Star Trek The Motion Picture. The cover of A Visit To A Sad Planet even uses elements from the movie (the newly designed Enterprise and Spock's uniform). The back cover of You Are Not Alone has really cool alien artwork! Each cover is very nicely printed using rich blue and metallic silver inks. We recently discovered variations to two of the music sheets. Judging from the manner in which they were redesigned, it's likely these variations were a later printing. Click here to see them.

KHJ'S BOSS 30 Records in Southern California

This leaflet is a great example of the cool promotional material issued by radio stations in the 60s and 70s. The covers often featured the hit bands, singers and performers of the time as well as the local disc jockeys who were spinning the tunes.

This one for "BOSS Radio" 93-KHJ in Los Angeles, California, has a picture of Mr. Spock against a groovy psychadelic background and asks us "Can you dig him?" Yes, yes we can!

The station also ran an hourly contest in which "a bunch of BOSS winners" could meet Leonard Nimoy on the set of Star Trek, plus a COLOR TV! Spockmania was running wild in the street of Los Angeles!
